I did just that this past Friday while traveling for a little Christmas vacation. Right up the road from my parents' house is one location (of about half dozen in the DFW metroplex) of The Artisan Vapor Company.
This was literally my first experience in a Dallas-based brick and mortar location. And it has changed the way I'm looking at things.
Beyond exceptional defined many aspects of my experience in the shop. The two employees there were very happy, friendly, and knowledgable. I chatted up one of the employees' personal setups (a Kayfun on the iTaste VTR) and how low you can wrap a coil and still get the VTR to fire. Yep. These guys know their stuff. On a second visit, Monday night, I listened to one of the salespeople helping a woman just getting started. I was impressed that they didn't oversell her on things she didn't need, and that they encouraged her to buy products that I would actually buy myself. Customer service at this store is excellent.
I really only stopped in just to check the store out. But I don't like doing things like that without buying something. So I asked to see their juice menu and decided I'd give a taste to their Glazed Pecan flavor. In a fun twist, they put the tester on top of an iTaste 134. And now I want one. (I see what you did there. Very smart.) Then it happened. SHAZAM! Holy Hell that was some kind of amazing flavor. I've never, ever had a taste experience like that. So I bought a small bottle and an el cheapo carto tank from them. They took the time to prime the cartomizer for me with the new juice and send me on my way after chatting it up a bit.
Over the course of the next four days, I traveled halfway across the country and back by plane. And over that time, I worked through 50% of my little 15mL bottle of Glazed Pecan. I had several of my DIY flavors with me, but, to be perfectly honest, they just don't compare. So I was literally on the ground less than a few hours when I made my way back to the shop and bought a big 39mL bottle of the same juice to carry home with me.
This experience has me a bit perplexed. Is there TRULY that much difference in the quality of juices? I suspect that it's going to take another visit to the fine folks at the Artisan Vapor Company and yet another flavor sampling to really tell. If all their flavors are as good as their Glazed Pecan, I'm gonna have a hard time using my DIY juice anymore. If you are ever in the DFW metroplex and want to have a top-notch experience at a vape shop, you owe it to yourself to stop by. I have a sneaky suspicion that I'll be making some 3 hour treks up to Dallas for no other reason than to do just that.
